Adding Audio to Word Press

Hi Mary – just a few steps to this process. Once you’ve done it a few times you’ll get the hang of it! There’s even a easy way on the bottom….

Step one – click on the big blue PLUS logo at the top left of the screen, next to the WordPress logo.

Step two – see all the different blocks that appear? Scroll down until you can see the one marked audio under MEDIA. There is a musical note above the word Audio.

Step three – click on the audio block. A large block will appear where your curser was.

Step four – go to SoundCloud, or where ever your audio source is. For the sound cloud links press the three dots next to the heart OR next to the heart is a COPY LINK button. You have to hover your mouse over the track you want, in order to see it. Click Copy Link.
For certain other sources and Youtube links you may have to copy and paste the URL from the address bar. There is a whole section of embeds you can choose.

Step five – in the audio block on WordPress click insert from URL. Paste link in the box that appears. Click the arrow on the far right of the link you just pasted in.

If you’ve done it correctly, you will see a graphic and a player embedded on your page, like this:

I should have created separate graphics for each one, but I did not.

Here is a link to ALL the planetarium shows. You just paste a specific link in and there’s the player!

OR you can forget all that and just paste in a link. That seems to work too…

Big hug, and have fun! John
